Chemical Peel

What is Chemical Peeling? Chemical peeling is one of the non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment methods that involves applying a specially formulated chemical solution to improve the texture and tone of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers. This process stimulates skin cell turnover and encourages new and healthier skin growing. Chemical peels have broad variety in strengths, for instance, superficial peels like glycolic acid for gentle exfoliation, medium-depth peels like trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for wrinkles/facial lines and pigmentation issues, deep peels like phenol for more serious signs of aging or scarring.

FAQ

Is chemical peeling safe for all skin types?

Yes, but your skin tone, condition and your concerns must be considered by a medical professional provider essentially in order to select the type of peel.

How long does the procedure take?

Most chemical peels take approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the peeling type, skin type and area treated.

Is there any pain during or after the procedure?

You may feel a tingling or stinging slightly during the procedure. After the treatment there might be mild redness and peeling, similar to a sunburn. Peeling is usually visualized maximumly in the 3rd day after the application.

How many sessions will I need?

A series of 3 to 6 treatments is usually suggested for optimal results that we would like to see and spaced a few weeks apart.

Can I wear makeup after a chemical peel?

Yes but not right after the peeling. Light makeup can usually be worn after 1–2 days, depending on the depth of the peel and the type of the peeling. It’s best to follow your provider’s aftercare instructions.

What are the common treatment areas?

Although chemical peels are used mostly on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands. Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred and chemical peeling is used to treat these conditions.

Is there any recovery time?

It is hard to say an exact days or hours, because recovery time and results depend on the depth of the peel. Light peels may have minimal downtime, meanwhile deeper peels may involve ranging from a few days to a week of redness and peeling.
